Southern City Newspaper: Focus on east European market and dig into offline management

July 15,2008

Mr. Guo JianWu has been very sophisticated and successful in his work experience and career. Before he came into the internet/online network industry, he worked for a big corporation and was responsible for international trade business. He found there was such a big and promising market in the east European countries. He realized there were more customers who spoke Russian than those who spoke in English.

In 2006, he wanted to expand his business scope and he decided to set up a B2B portal. In September of the year, a new ALIBABA of Russian version,Myekoo came into the market.

From a business extent, most of the B2B buisness portals are in the language of English. ALIBABA is currently creating a Japanese portal, in the mean time, there are portals in Arabic language in Shenzhen. But Guo JianWu insists and believes that the east European markets, where Russian is the main language, have the most and biggest business opportunities. The most important thing and the crucial factor for business success in the east European markets is to do business in the language of Russian. Plus, to know the market rules well and build reputation are also important.

Guo JianWu has accumulated abundant and reliable overseas resources in 8 years. He has also opened branch companies in Russia, Poland and Ukraine, etc. And the new websites of the languages of Russian and Polish will be opened to public soon. He has no worries if the business models are stolen, his confidence lies in his unique and professional understandings about the buyers and suppliers. His sales teams in the east European countries are very familiar with the local markets. Guo JianWu has stabled his position in the core business circles in the east European markets. If others want to sell products to east Europe, they might not be able to find buyers. But Guo JianWu can find buyers there easily because he knows the markets and rules well.

Guo JianWu emphasized that Myekoo focuses on offline services. Alibaba focuses on information search and communication online, but Myekoo focuses on offline support and services till the busienss deals are made.

A pottery enterprise in Fo Shan, Guangdong province, found a buyer through Myekoo website. They chose to work with Myekoo directly for making the deal successful because they were not familiar with the east European markets. Guo JianWu thinks B2B is just a portal and channel, its crucial key is the offline service.
